Developmental Screener Assessment for Preschool and Kindergarten Children

Purpose:

A validated developmental screener tool for young children (ages 3.5-5.5 years) to help monitor development and identify children who may have, or be at risk of, developmental delay. The aim is early detection and timely referral to early intervention services, giving children the best possible start as they begin their learning journey.

What it measures:

The screener is completed with parents/caregivers, recognising that your knowledge and concerns about your child are a vital part of identifying developmental needs. It is offered to preschool‑aged children prior to starting Kindergarten or during their first year of Kindy and is designed to be supportive, child‑friendly and easy to complete. It assess five key areas of development: Communication, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, problem-solving, and personal–social development.

Why parents and schools choose it:

Evidence consistently shows that early detection and intervention improve long‑term developmental outcomes. This screener helps identify your child’s strengths, highlights areas that may need further investigation, and strengthens referrals when additional assessment or support is needed.
